Urgency is a Threat-system overlay on the Narrative system. It’s the belief that "if I don't think this now, something bad will happen." In the Meaning Density Model™, we name this "Urgency in Thought" to decouple the content of the thought from the speed of the thought. Most things we think about aren't actually emergencies. By identifying the urgency as a "nervous system setting," you can choose to think about the same topic at a "lower velocity," which is far more efficient and less draining.
You "Check the Time-Horizon." Ask: "Is this a survival threat in the next 10 minutes?" If not, the urgency is a structural "error signal." By naming it as such, you provide a "safety signal" to the integrator. You can then continue thinking about the subject, but at a speed that allows for actual integration and settlement. This turns "panic-thinking" into "deliberate contemplation," where meaning is allowed to form properly.
