You "Let the Voice Pass Through." Arguing with the critic is a Status Loop that keeps both of you active. Letting the voice pass through means hearing the critique and not providing a "defense." You allow the words to enter your awareness and then exit, like wind through a screen door. By reducing your "engagement," you starve the critic of the "Attentional Fuel" it needs to stay relevant. The loop eventually "times out" because you stopped feeding it.
Because you can't "win" against a structural reflex. Every defense you offer just gives the critic more material to "rebut." In the model, we value Closure over Victory. Letting the voice pass through is a "Structural Exit." It signals that the "trial" is over because the "defendant" (you) has left the courtroom. This silence is what finally allows your nervous system to rest and your identity to update in peace.
