This oscillation is a hallmark of high-velocity loops. When the Reward system is over-extended, it inevitably snaps back into a state of "flatness" to recover. Naming this "swing" helps you realize that the flatness is not a permanent state of depression, but a structural response to the preceding "wanting." Recognizing the pattern restores balance by reducing the panic that usually accompanies the low phase.
Stability comes from lowering the "amplitude" of your loops. By reducing the intensity of your pursuits, the subsequent flatness becomes less severe. In the model, we focus on Meaning Density—seeking smaller, more integrated completions rather than high-intensity spikes. As your system learns it doesn't need to "soar" to be okay, the crashes become shallower, and your baseline stays more consistent and regulated.
